Thank you for 1 million YouTube views and counting.Right near the end of 2011 I finally surpassed one million views on YouTube. The precise date was December 14, 2011. Thanks to those who watch, and those who subscribe.

Today I'm right about 1,081,000 or so and making plans to create more videos in the near future (subjects: technology, how-tos, frugal advice, web/internet, visitor suggestions).

The actual hike took us 7 hours and 10 minutes, but that includes several breaks and 1 hour at the top where this picture was taken. We hiked it October 18th 2011 after all the snow was finally melted. There was still several feet of snow in late August this year when I last attempted the hike.

The Colonel Bob Trail is still closed due to the damage from the 2007 storm. The new trail to use is Upper Pete's Creek Trail; it's shorter but steeper.

Today Apple's Steve Jobs died after a long private battle with cancer. I transformed the Apple logo into a Steve Jobs silhouette as a sort of memorial of him and the company he built.

If you're wanting to learn how to turn your Google Plus about page images into a banner, you're in the right place. This is not an automatic solution to do all the work for you, this requires some photo editing. If you're not comfortable with that, send me the picture you want or get a friend with Photoshop to help you, it's very quick and easy. Plus, this method won't require your Google account username/password or add any advertising watermark to your banner when it's done.

Recently I made a couple of posts about this cool new Intel Wireless Display technology that lets you connect your laptop to your TV wirelessly. Intel Wireless Display (or WiDi) is a feature that comes built into some laptops from various manufacturers, and it is paired with a receiver that then connects to your TV and allows you to easily display your laptop's activities on your TV wirelessly.

I've been using this now for a couple weeks and I've become very familiar with both the pros as well as the cons. I have to say, this is a great device for a lazy day when you want to sit on the couch in front of your TV and watch some Hulu, Netflix, or YouTube videos on your HDTV. Just press your WiDi button, connect to your TV, and then start up what ever video you want to see.

Yes, you can connect your laptop to your TV without wires. Not only that, but it is incredibly easy to do so.

This is just a quick unboxing of a Netgear Push 2 TV device that allows you to connect your Intel Wireless Display equipped laptop to your TV with the press of a button. I will be posting a review once I've had a couple days to test this out.

If you want to be able to watch Blu-ray discs on your computer, you'll need a Blu-ray drive such as this. Just so you know, some discs still have protection which I've experienced that stop them from playing on a computer anyway. I haven't tried using the software that comes with this drive yet to see if it works that way though. At any rate, I picked up one of these drives from Newegg.com so I could watch Blu-ray movies on my computer, and here is the unboxing of an LG Super Multi Blue.

This is how you connect an HDTV to a computer or laptop in order to use it as a second monitor. My method uses a DVI to HDMI adapter, you can skip that if your video card already has an HDMI port. This will allow you to do things like play Netflix, Hulu, YouTube or any other online streaming video right on your HDTV along with video games or anything else you can do on your computer. You can also play Blu-Ray discs on your computer using something like a Blu-Ray LG Super Multi Blue drive.
